Alabama (3-0) at Arkansas (2-0)
No. 9 Alabama at Arkansas, Sept 20. The Razorbacks jump headfirst into the SEC by hosting Nick Saban's impressive Crimson Tide. Last season, the Razorbacks rallied from 21 down in the third quarter to take the lead against Alabama. But the Crimson Tide scored with eight seconds left to pull out the victory. Right now, it appears the Tide is ahead of the Hogs in the rebuilding process, which should give Alabama the edge. PLAYERS TO WATCH: RB Michael Smith — The junior, who was suspended for the season opener, wasted little time making his mark on the offense. He averaged 7.1 yards a carry and scored two touchdowns against Louisiana-Monroe. If Smith keeps it up, it will make it more difficult to find touches for talented freshman D'Anthony Curtis. TE D.J. Williams — The sophomore is the Razorbacks' biggest weapon in the passing game. The 6-2, 250-pounder showed decent speed on his 76-yard catch against Louisiana-Monroe, not to mention his two touchdown grabs, including the game-winner with 1:22 to play. WR Joe Adams — The freshman's seven-catch, 89-yard performance against Louisiana-Monroe hopefully is a sign of more things to come for the Razorbacks, who are still searching for a big playmaker on the outside. OT Andre Smith — He should be back close to full strength for this game. His presence seems critical for the offensive line to do its job. PR Javier Arenas — Arenas is one of the most exciting punt returners in a league that seems full of great kick returners. He's third in the league, averaging 23.1 yards per return, with one touchdown. NT Terrence Cody — A marvel because of his size (365 pounds) and agility (he can dunk a basketball). So far, opposing teams have had to double-team him. He's going against one of the top offensive centers in the country in the Hogs' Jonathan Luigs. This could be a matchup worth paying attention to. |
